“Every person has their own bucket list and having a tattoo is included in mine. My target was to get inked at my 21st birthday but unfortunately I wasn’t able to do it. Since then, I haven’t thought of getting one until last month. I couldn’t think of a gift for Ateng (Ivy Vicuna) for her birthday. She has been a very special person to me so I want my gift to be special too, and then I heard that she was planning to get inked again, so I took that opportunity and asked her if she wanted to have a matching tattoo with me. It is a win-win situation for me: I will be able to get a tattoo at the age of 21 (which is in my bucket list) and this will serve as a gift for Ateng. Thank God, she said YES!
We both decided to put it on our rib cage but we couldn’t agree of our design. So I asked her “Describe me and my impact to your life in one word.” She said, REFUGE. I was shocked because that is exactly what I felt about her too. We found comfort in each others company and we felt sheltered and protected in each others arm. After eons of searching tattoo ideas in the internet. I said, ‘What if, the word itself na lang?’ She said yes and suggested to translate it into a Greek word. And viola! We found our design.
