“Ole Cock” Tattoo

“This is a tribute to the men that flew the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. While watching documentary one day about this plane I developed a unhealthy interest in this plane. With over 16000 produced they were the biggest single engine plane used in WW2. Sadly there are only around 10 flyable planes left in the world.

Ole Cock was the part of the 61st Squadron, along with the 62nd and 63rd Squadrons made up the 56th fighter group. After the P-51 Mustang(being a lot more fuel efficent) came on line this group was one of the few that continued to use the Bolt. Along with other P-47 squadrons the 56th was assigned to air ground attack supporting infantry and destroying the Luftwaffe on the ground, dirty and dangerous work.

It saved many a pilot ( when at 23 years of age you were know as an “Old Man”) by getting him home when it had no right to be in the sky. With 8 .50cal guns, and impressive payload it was a beast of a plane. Pilots either loved it or hated it.

After the end of hostilities the 56th was credited with 1000 kills and destruction of thousands of tonnes of German material. I have added a link for you as promised.”

For his daughter, Katherine

“I have been trying to find something for my daughter Katherine for ages. A few weeks ago she did a drawings of her face in different expressions. I thought this is what I want on me instead of some Disney or cartoon character.

So I asked her to draw a happy, sad, surprised face etc. I decided I wanted them around the Peace Rose tattoo that I had done in memory of my mum. Thank you so much for making it work. She loved it.

Frances,
Once again thank you for the excellent ink, so happy with them.
Look forward to seeing you on our next visit. And thanks for the excellent work.

Cheers mate.” –┬áRoss
